Newly acquired first baseman Cody Ehlers has been very productive offensively -- he went 7-17 in pre-season -- and has looked spectacular at times defensively, making a big league spear at first Tuesday and converting it into an inning-ending double play.
"The game's a lot easier when you're having fun," said Ehlers, who played AA in Trenton last year.
That's the good news. The bad news is Ehler's seven hits equal the pre-season production of the men who are supposed to be the Goldeyes' biggest bats this season -- returnees Kevin West and Brent Metheny and newcomer Juan Diaz, who collectively went 7-47.
