Pat Sheehan didn't necessarily have to come back for one final season of college baseball.
After seeing action in four games last season as a walk-on newcomer at Illinois, the fifth-year senior didn't figure to get off the bench much again in 2011.
But the Springfield native simply couldn't bear to walk away, even if it meant putting in all that time and work with little reward in the form of playing time.
"The game of baseball brought me back," Sheehan said. "The competition, I live for it. I just can't get away from it."

University of Illinois freshman second baseman Thomas Lindauer was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Lindauer went 3-for-7 (.429) with two RBIs and three runs in a pair of starts at the end of the Illini's spring trip, lifting the Orange and Blue to victories in both games.

Illini junior short stop, Josh Parr, will be a key factor in the team's efforts this season. His younger brother will be too. Sophomore Justin Parr joins the Illini and his older brother after a season across town at Parkland College. There's still a Parr on Parkland's roster though. And in a year there will a third Parr on Illinois' roster. - VIDEO
