Mizzou Baseball Game Day: OU

Baseball team seeks to end recent slide against Missouri (OUDaily.com)
This weekend will be a crucial series for the Sooners as they look to get over .500 in conference play.

Missouri is 11-11 and has yet to play in-conference this season. The Tigers have yet to play a top-25 team this season.

OU senior righty Michael Rocha will start the series Friday. In five starts this season, he has five wins with a 0.93 ERA. In his last start against Texas A&M, Rocha struck out 13 in a shutout victory.

OU returned the bulk of its CWS squad, so the talent is there. But what about the focus and the drive? The biggest challenge for Sooners coach Sunny Golloway may be combating complacency.

“We are not a good baseball team right now,” Golloway said after the series-clinching loss to the Aggies. “We have a lot of work to do. The good thing is we have time to practice to get better.

“It comes down to if we can get the players’ attention.”

Though painful, yesterday’s loss was an anomaly. The Tigers had been playing a much sounder game over the past few weeks, having won seven of their last nine, including a six-game win streak (7.2 runs per game) that got them back to the .500 mark.
