HI NOTES: Southern Miss Tornado Damage, Big Stage Experience

♦ Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi were hit hard by a tornado Sunday evening. Missouri Tiger Baseball opens its season this Friday at Southern Miss.

Former foes Phillips, Lester reunited at MU (Columbia Tribune)
Phillips has been in Columbia's spotlight since 2006, when he and his Daniel Boone Little League team played in the Little League World Series. Jamieson, a former Rock Bridge standout himself, surprised Phillips with a bit of news.

"He said, 'We just signed one of the guys you played with in the World Series,' " Phillips said. "I just said, 'What's his name?' He said, 'Josh Lester,' and it just sounded really familiar to me at first."

The SEC is projected to be the top collegiate baseball conference in the NCAA, but the freshmen said they are unfazed. They've reached the pinnacle of Little League and high school. They feel it's a natural step.

They've done it under the bright lights before.

"I think learning at an early age dealing with pressure was probably the most beneficial thing of the whole experience," Phillips said....
