HI NOTES: Bond, Stites Sent Down; Tep Hanging In; MU Recruits Ready For Spring

Some of the fringe candidates for the remaining utility spots were reassigned to minor-league camp according to Andrew Baggarly, with Brock Bond, Heath Hembree, and others getting reassigned.

Bond will be on the 40-man one of these days, dang it. But until he is, he's at a big disadvantage in these kinds of roster scrums...

The Padres reassigned four pitchers to Minor League camp Saturday, leaving the team with 51 players remaining in Major League camp.

Stites yielded seven runs in four innings in five games. He'll likely start the season with Single-A Lake Elsinore....
Tepesch goes five solid in loss to Cubs (mlb.com)
Tepesch, making his second start and fourth overall appearance of the season, gave up three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two in five innings. Tepesch now has a 3.46 ERA on the spring and opponents are hitting .250 off him.

Tepesch's biggest problem was letting the leadoff hitter reach base. That happened in four of his five innings. Steve Clevenger's double started off a two-run third and Scott Hairston's second home run of the spring led off the fourth...

Topping the list of key returning players on the varsity squad are seniors Devin Williams and Jared Fosdick, who both have inked letters of intent with Mizzou. Williams went 2-3 with a 3.21 earned run average and 52 strikeouts in 32 2/3 innings last year, and Fosdick was 6-3 with a 2.35 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 62 2/3 innings of work...
