Jake Brentz didn’t believe it at first.
When the Parkway South senior left-hander was told he hit 96 miles per hour on radar guns on Saturday at the 2012 WWBA World Championship tournament in Jupiter, Florida, he thought his teammates were joking.
“I honestly did not believe it at first,” Brentz said. “Like all of my teammates were jumping around, saying, ‘Oh, my God, he hit 96.’ I just thought they were playing around, but then when I talked to a bunch of pro scouts and they were like, yeah, you hit 96. It was really exciting.”
The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder, who throws left and bats left, has made his mark with the Patriots and established himself as one of the top hitters and outfielders in the area.
