It was an easy decision for Webster Groves junior right-hander Peter Fairbanks to commit to Missouri last month over an offer from Texas Tech and interest from Duke.
"I went down there for a visit and they made an offer," he said. "I knew that was where I wanted to go, so I committed."
Fairbanks has been a Missouri fan for a while and has been to Columbia several times over the years.
"I really like the coaches and how they've developed pitchers over the years," he said.
The future for Fairbanks, 17, is a little more uncertain, however, due to the 6-6, 205-pounder undergoing Tommy John surgery on his pitching arm last month.
"I start rehab this coming week," Fairbanks said.
Fairbanks -- who went 2-1 with a 2.26 earned-run average in 21 2/3 innings, struck out 27 batters, walked 11 and held opponents to a .217 batting average -- said he was told by doctors he may not be able to pitch again until district time of his senior season.
