The Missouri Tigers Baseball team used the longball to beat the Kansas State Wildcats in the series finale, 12-8 Sunday afternoon (May 8) at Tointon Family Ballpark in Manhattan. The win gives Mizzou its third straight Big 12 series victory, the first time that feat has been done since 2009 and imporves the Tigers to 21-27 on the year and 8-12 in Big 12 conference play. Dusty Ross (3-4) earned the win for the Tigers and Phil McCormick got the save, his sixth of the season.

Kansas State walked into Sunday’s showdown with the Missouri Tigers needing a Big 12 conference series win. They left the contest bruised and battered after a 12-8 loss.

It was the second time in four days the Wildcats allowed 12 runs or more. With the loss, Kansas State drops to eighth place in the Big 12 conference standings but are still eligible to compete in the Big 12 postseason tournament.
