'Twas the night before Opening Day . . .

Whom you should root for is the grammaticaly precise theme of Eric Sorenson's latest post at College Baseball Today. Good thoughts all, except the one about rooting for the Coach-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Cheered-For:
6- WICHITA STATE, FLORIDA STATE, TEXAS and RICE.Look people, we never know when Coach Stephenson, Martin, Garrido and Graham are going to announce their retirement and ride off into the sunset. And we like having these colorful characters around way too much to let that happen. In fact, now that I think of it, forget cheering for them. ‘Coz if one of them wins a national title this year, they may hang up the cleats for good, so nevermind.

■ Baseball America's Opening Weekend Preview discusses, among other things, the rough start the Auburn Tigers (next week's Mizzou opponent) have had before the season even has gotten started.
The spring has gotten off to a rough start for the Tigers even before the first official pitch has been thrown. Two of Auburn's key players have suffered injuries in practice that will sideline them for the start of the season

Rivals.com's Kendall Rogers provides comic relief by posting his first Regional Projections before the season even begins. Next week he'll handicap the 2012 presidential election.
