Two University of Memphis players earn C-USA honors (Memphis Commercial Appeal, 5/8)
Three weeks after being swept in a Conference USA series at Southern Miss, the Tigers are in the midst of a five-game C-USA win streak, including last weekend’s sweep of UAB. On Monday, the league office announced another sweep for the U of M.

Junior righthander Dan Langfield and senior third baseman Jacob Wilson were named C-USA Pitcher of the Week and Hitter of the Week, respectively, for their efforts against UAB. Langfield, a possible first- or second-round pick in next month’s major league draft, tossed seven shutout innings to help the Tigers win the series opener, 8-1. Wilson, who shared the hitter-of-the-week honors with Tulane’s Brandon Boudreaux, went 5-for-10 in the series with four home runs — two in the opener, two in the finale — and upped his league-leading total to 14.
