HI NOTES: More of the Same, MU Recruit a 'Natural'

A couple of 9th inning tweets encapsulate this season pretty well:


Bottom of the 9th, down 2 runs. A .191 hitting regular starter and and a .095 pinch hitter are the Tigers' best hope for pulling out a game against SEMO?

Missouri baseball team lacks focus in loss to Southeast Missouri State (Columbia Missourian)
...Jamieson said it was another case of his players lacking focus for a midweek game.

"Pregame I didn’t sense it," Jamieson said. "Anytime that happens, it’s lack of focus, not good enough focus. I can’t explain it."

Jamieson has been at a loss throughout the season, which is on pace to be his worst at Missouri since his first season in 1995. Missouri signed Jamieson to a contract extension through 2015 following the team's Big 12 Conference tournament title last season...

Grant’s Ring is a natural on baseball diamond (Lake Country News-Sun)
“There was a ball that was probably a play for the right fielder but Jake got all the way over into the gap and camped under it,’’ Grant coach Dave Behm said. “For me, it’s something that I’ve gotten used to and something that I will miss next year. Anything that’s up in the air, you know he’s going to get a great jump on it. ‘’

Being a great fielder is only one of Ring’s attributes. The University of Missouri recruit distinguished himself in a February workout that was attended by several pro scouts. He ran the 60-yard dash (running from the batter’s box to second base is 60 yards) in 6.6 seconds and his throws from the outfield were clocked at 91 mph...
