Matheny, by the way, organized the Rawlings High School Baseball Showcase, an All-Star game that will be held Wednesday at Busch Stadium after the Cardinals' 1:15 p.m. game against Arizona. The game will match 25 seniors from Missouri against 25 seniors from Illinois. Players committed to play include Granite City catcher Jake DePew, a Louisville signee who was selected by Tampa Bay in the ninth round of the June draft, and Mizzou signees Matt Linderer (Bishop DuBourg) and Danny Murphy (Mehlville).
