In order to believe what I believe and why, you first have to understand a concept called the hinge angle.[1] The hinge angle is the angle formed by the front forearm (line E-W) and the barrel of the bat (line H-W). Most good hitters set the hinge angle at between 80 and 100 degrees.

This is also true of Aaron Senne. In the clip above, of him hitting a home run to left field, notice how he holds the hinge until the last frame before contact. Only between the last two frames does the hinge angle change.
